Bennie Smith Funeral Home of Wilmington, DE is giving New Castle County Seniors an early reason to get excited for school this year. 5 – $1000 Scholarships will be given to seniors at the start of their senior year.

In addition to the many local scholarships that are given away each year, both Delaware State University and the University of Maryland Eastern Shore have Bennie Smith Funeral Home scholarships available to students. “We have always believed in higher education” said Bennie Smith (President & CEO of BSFH) “however sometimes young people need a little help in reaching their dreams & we’re both fortunate and delighted that we can help provide that assistance to them”.

Registration for these specific scholarships are open exclusively to New Castle County Seniors as the scholarships are part of the BSFH Wilmington office’s Community Outreach program; the office will additionally have a table at this year’s August Quarterly celebration in Wilmington where students may fill out registration forms on-site and pick up a free backpack while supplies last. Registration for scholarships may be done anytime online at BennieSmithFuneralHome.com – a few questions is all that is needed. Only 1 registration is permitted per student. Winners will be drawn the week of August 26th. Before winning students are notified, they will be verified at their school and noted as a Scholarship winner for their 2020 Senior Awards Banquet.

“We’re giving the scholarships away early in the year as we want students to get excited for their year ahead & get excited that they will be recognized as a Scholarship winner at their Senior Awards near graduation” said Smith “everyone likes to recognized & these registrations don’t put any weight on an essay, GPA, etc. – they’re open to everyone – as long as their a New Castle County High School Senior”.
